 Chennai to go Global with International Fashion Week

With the preparations in full swing, the Chennai International Fashion Week, December 14-20, 2009, is making waves now. Read on as the most famous city in Southern India, becomes the center of Indian and International fashion convergence.
Fashion Weeks are in full swing. Kolkata completed two fashion weeks, Bangalore finished its debut fashion week and now comes, ‘Chennai International Fashion Week.’ Well, there is a difference here. Do note, it’s not just a fashion week, but an International Fashion Week – a truly global fashion event in India.
It has been formed to give Indian designers an International platform to showcase their collection worldwide. 30 Indian fashion designers, 10 International guest designers, 40 fashion shows, 60 models both Nationally and Internationally, buyers from all over the world, media from India and abroad, will all be a part of this truly global fashion event in India. It is a heady mix of talent from 15 countries, presenting the biggest gathering of Indian and International design talent under one roof .
The Chennai International Fashion Week is organized by the ‘Storm Fashion Company’ who have over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. The venue is at Le Royal Meridien, Chennai which consists of a Sponsor Zone, a dedicated  Buyer’s Lounge and a VIP Hospitality Lounge.
The crew has gone a step ahead and given an opportunity for all the fashion professionals to be volunteers and gain practical experience. Be it a fashion student or a working professional of fashion, you can be a part of their team and work on various aspects like advertising, photography , online marketing, event organization, model promotion etc.
The casting call for models did start a few days back. The response was immense and  in just a few days time, around 600 models, both Nationally and Internationally, have registered to take part in the International event. The auditions will be held shortly to select the most ravishing ones.
The casting call for designers and models have been closed and now the call is for the media.  Photographers, magazines, publications, reporters, radio, internet publications, television crew; everyone is invited to be a part of this grand, mega event.
Here’s a sneak peak of the foreign designers for the Chennai International Fashion Week. Fashionista Rachael G, a renowned designer from Singapore will be showcasing her array of day and evening wear dresses, gown and deftly crafted accessories. Her statement, ‘My Body is Wonderland,’ is the promise she gives this December. Louis Mariette, a London based Bespoke couture hat designer creating,  personalized  sensational hats headpieces and stunning bejeweled  accessories, has been chosen all the way from London to showcase his work for the first time in India. The opening show and grand finale designers have also been booked, but it is yet to revealed.
The largest Indian media group, ‘The Times Of India,’ and its sub brands support the mega event. That’s not it, a global brand is on the way to support Chennai International Fashion Week.   This Diwali to Christmas ‘ Storm Events,’ is storming ahead to take the world by storm.
